Connecting re-bars implies advanced research to combine compromising features to high standard requirements such as:

  1. -Highest safety factor

  2. -Absolute reliability

  3. -Easy and adaptable on job-site manufacturing

  4. -Economic viability

Higher strength of the connection than the re-bar itself, can only be preserved while leaving bar’s core ∅ remaining the smallest value of the coupling assembly.

This is why PPT opted for its 2-step enlarging method while proceeding the re-bars.

  1. -First step:

Very low “Soft-Cold-Forge” of the bar edge

  1. -Second step:

Span-less Cold-Forge-Rolling for the final thread

Eliminating any material structure “over-stressing” while enlarging as well as any material fiber cutting while applying the bar thread, PTT has been able, in connection with its special designed coupler, to increase:

  1. -Connection quality

  2. -Connection strength

  3. -Connection cost efficiency

  while diminishing:

- Axial alignment problems

- Connectivity gap interference

- Connectivity problem through thread misalignment

PPT-Method :

Material-structure-safe manufacturing is the most relevant feature of PPT’s method.

The resulting strength as well as the amazing connecting abilities, provides best possible conditions for most practical, economic and secure application.

  1. 1) Bar cutting for 90º sharp edge. Up to 3 bar-edges (32mm) in one cut.

  2. 2) PPT’s special and unique “Soft-Cold-Forging”. The bar edge being enlarged uniformly and without material cracks or fissures, for less than 20% of its initial volume.

  3. 3) A second forging is applied on the enlarged bar edge by a “rolled” thread. The final inner-Ø of the thread will be larger than the bar core-Ø and by that way always guarantee higher strength than the rebar itself.

This is a very resumed but incomplete description of PPT’s method.

PPT-Method applies a perfectly shaped, low pitch, rolled tread to the bar edge without weakening the outer, hard coat of the new generation of quench-tempered rebars.

The result is an undisturbed structure of the bar coat with even better strength features than before.
